The main alternatives to CloudZero are LevelFour, Vantage, Finout, IBM Cloudability, CloudHealth by Broadcom, Datadog Cloud Cost Management, Ternary, Flexera One, Harness Cloud & AI Cost Management, and nOps. Pick by the job that comes after allocation. Vantage suits a self-serve start at a published price, Finout and Cloudability suit allocation across a large bill, Datadog and Harness suit teams already on those platforms, and LevelFour ships each saving and confirms it on the bill. If your shortlist is Vantage and CloudZero, read Vantage vs CloudZero.
We read each vendor's own product, docs, and pricing pages, plus AWS Marketplace listings, in November 2026, and noted how each tool allocates spend, how it reports unit cost, what follows a recommendation, and what it costs. We make LevelFour, so it comes first among the alternatives.
What does CloudZero do?
CloudZero calls itself the AI ROI Company. It allocates AI, cloud, and Kubernetes cost down to customer, feature, workflow, and model, and reports it as unit costs. CloudZero.
- Dimensions group spend from the accounts, services, and regions already in your bill, in Dimension Studio or in CostFormation YAML. Dimensions.
- Unit Economics divides spend by a unit metric, such as orders processed or API calls, that you send through a telemetry stream by API or CSV. Unit Economics.
- Optimize checks for new recommendations once a day. Each one names a resource, the estimated savings, and how to address it, and Optimize tracks the realized impact. Optimize.
- AI Signals brings in AI spend from Google Vertex and Gemini, AWS Bedrock, Fireworks, and gateways such as LiteLLM. AI Signals launch.
What CloudZero costs
CloudZero sells a single subscription with all capabilities included, among them unlimited cost sources, users, and dimensions, and asks you to request a custom quote. CloudZero pricing. On AWS Marketplace it lists $19 a month per $1,000 of monthly AWS spend on a one-month contract, with the note "overages and limitations apply", and a free trial on terms the vendor sets. AWS Marketplace listing.
Why teams compare other options
CloudZero suits companies that report cost per customer or feature from their own telemetry. Teams that compare alternatives tend to want one of four other fits:
- A price they can read before a sales call. Vantage, Datadog, and LevelFour publish rates on their own pages, and Finout, Cloudability, CloudHealth, Ternary, and Flexera list prices on AWS Marketplace.
- Software that makes the change. LevelFour, Vantage's Autopilot and FinOps Agent, Flexera's policies, Harness AutoStopping, and nOps act on some or all of what they find.
- Chargeback across a large organization, which Cloudability, CloudHealth, and Flexera One build for.
- Cost inside a platform the team already runs, which is the case for Datadog and Harness.

What the public prices come to at $100,000 a month
Most of these vendors publish a rate somewhere. We took a bill of $100,000 a month on AWS, or $1.2 million a year, and read the price each listing gives for that bill, or the nearest figure it lists:
| Tool | Rate used | A year |
|---|---|---|
| Datadog Pro | $5 per $1,000 of spend a month, billed annually | $6,000 |

Harness and nOps price this bill by quote or by a fee they set on your spend. At this level, LevelFour's Governance & Visibility is on Enterprise, also by quote. Cloud Savings is a separate product at 30% of realized savings, so set it against other ways of getting savings delivered.
How to choose a CloudZero alternative
1. Start with the report you owe
If leadership asks for cost per customer every month, test that report first with one real metric. Vantage, Finout, Datadog, and Harness each build a unit cost from a metric you bring. A cost per customer works only when a usage metric or a tag can name the customer.
2. Decide who makes the change
If your engineers work from tickets, compare how each tool opens them. If you want software to act, read what each one touches: Vantage's agent and Flexera's policies work inside your accounts, Harness stops idle resources, nOps manages commitments, and LevelFour applies each saving with access scoped to that one change or opens a pull request.
3. List your sources
Write down each cloud, SaaS tool, and AI provider on your bill, and check it against each vendor's integrations. Ask how the tool reads a source it has no connector for: CloudZero uses AnyCost, Vantage uses Custom Providers, and LevelFour takes any other provider as a custom one.
4. Ask who opens the tool each day
Ternary and Cloudability speak to Finance. Datadog and Harness meet engineers where they already work. When one side never opens the tool, it keeps its own spreadsheet, and the two sets of numbers drift apart.
5. Price it at next year's spend
A flat band stays flat until you cross it, and a rate per $1,000 grows with every dollar. Price both at your spend today and at your spend a year from now, and ask each vendor for a quote, because contract rates differ from list.
Common mistakes when you move off CloudZero
- Rebuilding your Dimensions from memory. Keep the CostFormation definitions as the spec for the new tool's rules, and check the totals by team against the old tool.
- Forgetting the telemetry. Your unit metrics reach CloudZero through a telemetry stream, so point that stream at the new tool before the old contract ends.
- Cutting over on one day. Run both tools through a full billing cycle and compare the totals before you switch off the old one.
- Comparing a list price with a quote. A Marketplace rate carries limits a sales quote may not, and the reverse holds too.
- Counting estimated savings as realized. Read the bill after each change, with a tool that reports on it, such as CloudZero's Optimize or LevelFour's Savings Audit.
