LevelFour vs CloudZero
LevelFour keeps one system of record for Cloud, SaaS, and AI spend, allocated with virtual tags, and ships the savings it finds: applied in your cloud with access scoped to one change, or as a pull request your engineers merge.
Allocation and unit economics: mapping cloud and AI spend to products, features, teams, and customers.
CloudZero fits a company that wants unit economics, such as cost per customer or per feature, built from its own telemetry, and that runs savings through its own engineering tickets.
Choose LevelFour when you want each saving applied for you or as a pull request and confirmed on the bill, at 30% of what it saves, with plans from $30 a month.
What is CloudZero?
CloudZero positions itself as a financial control plane for AI spend. It ingests cloud, Kubernetes, SaaS, and AI costs, allocates them through Dimensions written in its CostFormation language, and divides spend by business telemetry to report unit costs such as cost per customer. In 2026 it added AI Hub, natural-language analysis over its MCP server, and AI Signals, which breaks AI spend down by team, person, and activity.
LevelFour vs CloudZero: side by side
| LevelFour | CloudZero | |
|---|---|---|
| Primary focus | One system of record for Cloud, SaaS, and AI spend, with each saving applied for you or shipped as code | Allocation and unit economics: mapping cloud and AI spend to products, features, teams, and customers |
| Cloud coverage | AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Kubernetes, and more clouds, plus SaaS and AI providers such as Datadog, Snowflake, OpenAI, and Anthropic: more than 50 in all, and any other as a custom provider | AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud; Kubernetes; SaaS connectors such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Datadog; AI providers OpenAI, Anthropic, and Cursor, plus any source through AnyCost |
| Kubernetes | Pod requests and limits sized to real usage, OOMKills fixed, idle pods removed, and nodes consolidated, each change shipped as a pull request to your Helm values, with cost per namespace for every team | An agent for EKS, AKS, GKE, OKE, and self-managed clusters reports CPU, memory, and GPU cost by cluster, namespace, and workload, with unused capacity shown as idle |
| How changes are applied | Your team picks per saving: LevelFour applies it in your cloud with write access scoped to that one change, which then expires; opens an infrastructure-as-code pull request (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or Kubernetes manifests) your engineers merge; or hands over manual steps. Savings Audit then confirms each saving on the bill, resource by resource. | Daily recommendations with realized-savings tracking and Jira work items; its MCP server can create insights, monitors, and Jira or ServiceNow tickets. |
| GitOps and drift | A saving shipped as a pull request merges into the repo your ArgoCD or Flux pipeline already watches, and your team reviews it like any other change. | Allocation rules can live as code in CostFormation, and its Claude Code plugin estimates the cost of IaC files and diffs. |
| Developer experience | MCP server, CLI, REST API, and SDKs; a Slack agent; a pull request bot that prices each change on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps; Backstage, Port, and Cortex for developer portals. | REST and telemetry APIs, a hosted MCP server with 30 tools, a Claude Code plugin, Slack alerts, and Jira |
| Pricing model | Cloud Savings: 30% of realized savings, and nothing if nothing is saved. Governance & Visibility with Kubernetes: Pro at $30 a month (up to $2,500 of tracked spend), Scale at $200 (up to $7,500), Enterprise custom. | One subscription with every feature, priced by custom quote |
